Questions About Parks & Trails for Seniors?
We've answered the most common questions about accessible park guides, trail difficulty, and exploring Czech nature at your own pace.
Absolutely. Stromovka has wide, well-maintained paths and plenty of benches—you can walk just 15 minutes or explore for hours depending on your energy. Letná is hillier, but we guide you through the gentler northern route with several viewpoints where you can rest and enjoy the Prague skyline. Both parks have accessible facilities and we always suggest breaking the walk into shorter segments.
Each route includes elevation gain, distance, and surface type—we're upfront about what to expect. The valley floor walks are mostly flat with gentle inclines, while ridge trails involve 200-300m elevation change. We recommend starting with the 4-5km riverside routes before tackling longer circuits. It's better to choose something easier and enjoy it than to feel rushed or exhausted.
Yes—the main pathways through the botanical gardens are wheelchair-accessible with minimal slopes. There are accessible parking, restrooms, and several resting areas throughout the gardens. Some elevated sections (like the Japanese garden) have steps, but we map out the fully accessible route for you so you know exactly where you can go comfortably.
Late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) are ideal—temperatures are mild, trails aren't crowded, and there's less chance of slippery surfaces. Summer heat can be challenging, while winter paths can be icy in Podyjí. We update our trail conditions seasonally, so you'll always know what to expect before you go.
We do both. Our detailed guides work great if you prefer to explore independently, but we also organize small group walks where a local guide leads you through the parks, shares history and botany knowledge, and keeps a comfortable pace with built-in rest stops. Groups are kept small (6-8 people) so everyone feels supported.
Water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes with good grip, and a light layer—even summer days can have cool spots in the shade. For longer walks, bring snacks and a basic first-aid kit. Our guides include a detailed packing list for each route so you're never caught unprepared.
